Brief: Make a 15ft puppet as part of the Making of Mas programme suitable to perform outdoors.
Production: Ti Jean and his Brothers 2006
In 2006 Kinetika ran the Making of Mas programme, a month-long training programme on carnival arts. The result was a unique event that pushed the boundaries of carnival and theatre. Working with the Oval Theatre in London, and performing outdoors, forty dancers, drummers, brass and woodwind players performed in extravagant costumes, accompanied by 3 giant articulated puppets.
I made the top face of this puppet (there is another face underneath that gets revealed as part of the show) with Sofie Layton, and the body with the rest of the make team.
